Debtors' Assets to Go on E-Auctions

The Polish government has approved a bill to launch an e-auction portal that will enhance the transparency and efficiency of debt recovery processes.

On Tuesday, the Polish Council of Ministers approved a draft law aimed at amending the law on enforcement proceedings in administration, which will establish the eLicytacje portal of the National Revenue Administration. This new online platform will serve as a centralized location for publishing auction announcements from tax offices, allowing for real-time public auctions of seized assets. The initiative aims to improve access to information, streamline debt recovery processes, and enhance the transparency of administrative actions.

The Ministry of Finance emphasized that the electronic sales method will lead to more favorable sales of seized items and expedite the settlement of outstanding debts. With eLicytacje, tax office heads will be empowered to conduct online auctions of both movable assets, such as vehicles, and immovable property owned by debtors. This move is expected to broaden participation in the auction process, as anyone interested will be able to purchase seized items online.

The implementation of eLicytacje aligns with broader efforts to modernize tax administration in Poland, ultimately fulfilling the goals of ensuring quicker recovery of dues and reinforcing public trust in the efficiency and integrity of government processes. This initiative also reflects a shift towards digital solutions in public administration, promising a more user-friendly and accessible system for citizens dealing with tax liabilities.
