Four women are arrested trying to enter with drugs at Alcaçuz Penitentiary

Four women were arrested while attempting to smuggle drugs into the Alcaçuz State Penitentiary in Brazil.

In a significant law enforcement operation, four women have been arrested attempting to smuggle illegal drugs into the Alcaçuz State Penitentiary, located in Nísia Floresta, near Natal, Brazil. The arrests were made possible due to the implementation of advanced security protocols including a bodyscan machine, which detected the concealed substances during standard entry searches.

The women employed various methods to hide the drugs, underscoring the ongoing challenges faced by correctional facilities in preventing contraband. The first individual, a 24-year-old, was found with marijuana stashed in her genitals, followed by another 24-year-old who attempted to smuggle marijuana in an absorbent pad. A 46-year-old woman was also apprehended with 50 hits of LSD hidden under a surgical bandage, while the final arrest involved a 23-year-old with multiple packages of suspected marijuana and cocaine.

These incidents highlight not only the persistence of drug smuggling into prisons but also the heightened security efforts by the authorities. The four women were taken into custody by female prison guards and subsequently transferred to the police station for further legal action. Such operations are crucial in tackling drug-related crime and maintaining security within penitentiary institutions.
