Inamhi issues warning for extreme conditions until Thursday: "Rain of variable intensity" will hit these parts of the country hard.
The Ecuadorian Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inamhi) has issued a weather warning for various regions in Ecuador due to expected rain and storms.
The Ecuadorian Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inamhi) has issued an alert for extreme weather conditions expected to persist until Thursday, highlighting that areas along the coast and in the Amazon are likely to experience significant rainfall. Alongside this, the Central Interandean region will see scattered showers throughout the afternoon and evening, while the Insular region can anticipate variable conditions with isolated rains. This warning signifies the importance of preparedness as the weather could cause disruptions in these areas.
From February 22 to February 25, 2026, Inamhi anticipates rains of varying intensity, coupled with some storms in multiple regions across the nation. The warning is particularly relevant as these weather patterns could lead to inundation and other weather-related challenges. With rainfall projections suggesting scattered thunderstorms, residents in affected areas are advised to take precautions as local conditions could rapidly change, impacting daily activities.
Temperatures are predicted to vary significantly across the regions with the Littoral expected to range from 22 °C to 32 °C, the Sierra from 8.5 °C to 21.5 °C, and the Amazon from 18.5 °C to 29 °C. Meanwhile, the Insular region can expect temperatures between 23 °C and 31 °C. Additionally, the ultraviolet radiation levels are forecasted to be between moderate and very high, underscoring the importance of taking protective measures against sun exposure during this period.
