Threat to kill Uma Bharti's nephew, FIR
Rahul Singh Lodhi, the nephew of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti, received a death threat via social media, prompting police to register an FIR against an unidentified individual.
Rahul Singh Lodhi, the nephew of ex-Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Uma Bharti, has been threatened with death through a post on social media. Lodhi, who has served as a BJP MLA and a minister in the state government, was targeted in a disturbing incident that raised serious concerns over the safety of politicians in the region. Following a complaint lodged by his wife, Umita Lodhi, who is also the chairperson of the Tikamgarh District Panchayat, an FIR has been registered against an unidentified person under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The incident came to light when an individual allegedly posted a threatening message on Facebook against Lodhi's life on February 22. In response to the threat, police officials, led by Inspector Chandrajeet Singh Yadav, have initiated an investigation to identify the individual behind the social media account. Such threats are particularly alarming given the volatile political climate in Madhya Pradesh, where political rivalries can sometimes escalate to violence.
Rahul Lodhi has been a prominent political figure in Madhya Pradesh, having previously been elected as an MLA from the Khargapur constituency in the 2018 state assembly elections. His tenure in the Shivraj government included holding the position of Minister of Cottage and Rural Industries. The swift police action in this case underscores the state's commitment to ensuring the safety of its political leaders, yet it also highlights the growing trend of using social media platforms to propagate threats and intimidate political figures.
