Latvian hockey players will meet Denmark and Finland before the world championship

The Latvian men's national ice hockey team is preparing for the upcoming World Championship by arranging friendly matches against Finland and Denmark. According to the Latvian Hockey Federation (LHF), these matches will precede their comprehensive training regimen starting in early April in Riga. On April 8 and 9, Latvia will face Austria at the Xiaomi Arena, which is crucial for honing their skills ahead of the major international competition.

Following the friendly matches in Riga, the Latvian team will travel to Lahti, Finland, where they will face off against the Finnish national team on April 22 and then take on Denmark the following day. These matches are vital in providing the team with the necessary experience and integration ahead of their participation in the World Championship, which will take place from May 15 to 31 in Switzerland.

At the World Championship, Latvia will compete in Group A in Zurich alongside formidable opponents including the host nation Switzerland, the USA, Finland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, and Great Britain. This challenging group will test Latvia's preparedness and adaptability in high-stakes games, setting the stage for what could be a significant tournament for the national team.
