Shah's Power Play in Owaisi's Stronghold, RJD Connects to Bengal Elections

Home Minister Amit Shah is visiting Bihar for three days to review security in sensitive districts near the India-Nepal and India-Bangladesh borders.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to embark on a three-day visit to Bihar, during which he will conduct a high-level security review meeting with district collectors and police superintendents in seven sensitive districts. These districts—Kishanganj, Araria, Purnia, Katihar, Supaul, Sitamarhi, and West Champaran—are recognized for their proximity to the India-Nepal and India-Bangladesh borders. Due to continuous cross-border movement, illegal networks, and security challenges, they have been classified as sensitive areas.

From a political perspective, Seemanchal is considered a stronghold of Asaduddin Owaisi's party, the AIMIM, which made a significant impact in the last assembly elections by winning five seats, thereby signaling its influence in the region. The BJP has emphasized the significance of Shah's visit in terms of the security and development of Seemanchal and Bihar as a whole. BJP spokesperson Neeraj Kumar stated that this visit is a critical step towards rectifying the demographics of border regions, strengthening national security, and enhancing Bihar's development as a state.

The BJP asserts that the security review meeting will bolster border management and crack down on infiltration networks. This visit comes at a crucial time as it aims to address both security concerns and the political landscape shaped by Owaisi's growing presence in the area, which could have ramifications for local and state elections. The convergence of these issues underscores the complex interplay of regional security and political strategy in Bihar.
