Over 6 kilometers of electrical cables were stolen from a solar park in Radviliškis, Lithuania, resulting in damages of over 14,000 euros.

Between February 13 and 16, over 6,000 meters of electrical cabling were stolen from the solar park owned by a company in the village of Pagaidžpiliai, Radviliškis district. According to police reports, the theft has been assessed to cause financial damage amounting to 14,257.91 euros. An investigation into the incident has been launched following a complaint from the company involved.

The police have commenced a preliminary investigation into the circumstances surrounding the theft, as officials seek to determine how the crime was executed and whether any leads or evidence can help identify the perpetrators. Given the location and nature of the crime, this incident underscores potential vulnerabilities in securing renewable energy infrastructures, particularly as they become increasingly prevalent.

The ongoing investigation highlights the broader concerns regarding the protection of energy facilities, especially those related to solar energy, which is an area of growth in Lithuania.
