Can AI Represent Human Consciousness? An Experiment with a Virtual "1,000 People"...
Research is expanding on the use of AI to simulate public opinion polls, exploring its potential to represent human responses based on demographic data.
Research into the ability of artificial intelligence (AI) to effectively simulate human responses in opinion polls is gaining traction. The study, conducted under the supervision of a specialist from TDAI Lab, utilizes AI models to perform surveys as if they were answering from a demographic of 1,000 virtual citizens. The findings from this experimental approach reveal that AI can surprisingly replicate real public sentiment, as illustrated by the 'ι εεΊ¦γ©γ³γγ³γ°' (attractiveness ranking) of Japanese prefectures which matched closely with actual survey results published by a private research firm for 2025.
In conducting the poll, the AI was programmed to embody various human personas based on statistical data reflecting the real population distribution of Japan, including factors such as residence, age, and occupation. The responses highlighted notable insights; for instance, Hokkaido was rated the most attractive, with 88.7% of the AI-generated responses affirming it as
