Hindy: The Peace Council is a Farce and Betting on Surrendering Resistance Weapons is an Illusion
Mohammad Hindy, the Deputy Secretary-General of Islamic Jihad, criticizes the recently formed Peace Council as a theatrical performance that does not address the realities on the ground in Gaza.
Mohammad Hindy, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad Movement, has publicly condemned the newly established Peace Council intended to address the situation in Gaza. He describes the council as nothing more than a theatrical performance disconnected from the ground realities, emphasizing that its formation has not resulted in any tangible change in the ongoing conflict or in the documented Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people. Hindy asserts that the council operates under a clear equation of absolute American dominance and complete security for Israel, effectively sidelining Palestinians from having a say in their destiny.
He points out the lack of genuine Palestinian representation within the council, indicating that the role allotted to Palestinians is limited to managing municipal affairs in Gaza through technocratic committees, devoid of any sovereignty or political decision-making power. Furthermore, Hindy highlights that the framework proposed by the Peace Council fully aligns with Israeli perspectives, specifically linking the reconstruction of Gaza to the disarmament of the resistance, while neglecting serious discussions regarding Israeli withdrawal or holding the occupiers accountable for their ongoing violations of ceasefire agreements, such as closing borders and hindering humanitarian aid.
In his remarks during an interview with Al Jazeera Mubasher, Hindy stresses that this approach fails to address the core issues faced by Palestinians and represents a continuation of existing injustices rather than a move towards genuine peace or resolution of the conflict. His assertions reflect a growing discontent among Palestinian factions regarding external interventions that do not address their fundamental rights and needs in the face of continual Israeli aggression.
