Riders from five gaucho cities will be required to take mandatory courses to participate in horseback rides

Riders in the 12th Traditionalist Region of Brazil now have to complete a mandatory training course to participate in official horseback events.

The 12th Traditionalist Region, which includes the cities of Canoas, Esteio, Sapucaia do Sul, São Leopoldo, and Nova Santa Rita, has introduced a new requirement for riders looking to participate in official horseback riding events. This decision was made during the Regional Congress (Congregare) held at the CTG Independência Gaucha in Esteio. It requires that all participants in events supervised by the Regional Department of Horseback Rides complete a 'Rider Training Course' (Curso de Formação de Cavaleiros).

The newly mandated course will have a validity period of two years and will include certification registered with the regional secretary. Riders must present this certificate to be eligible for participation in specific events. This initiative aims to enhance the qualifications and safety of participants during these traditional horseback events. The decision reflects a growing emphasis on maintaining standards in traditionalist gatherings and ensuring that riders are adequately trained.

Furthermore, the enforcement of this compulsory course indicates a significant shift towards organizing more professional and regulated horseback riding events in the region. By instituting these requirements, the governing body aims not only to preserve the cultural heritage associated with these activities but also to promote a safer and more knowledgeable community of riders. Those who fail to provide proof of course completion risk being barred from official activities, highlighting the serious nature of this requirement for the participants.
