On Tuesday morning, a suspect in a homicide case in Gouvelândia, Goiás, was arrested in the municipality of Igarapé do Meio, Maranhão, as part of an operation led by the Maranhão Civil Police with assistance from the Goiás Civil Police. The suspect is accused of killing Bruno Fernandes during an altercation fueled by alcohol consumption on November 14, 2016. Despite attempts to save Fernandes, he succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. The suspect had been on the run since the incident and had been actively sought by authorities. With an arrest warrant issued, police followed leads that ultimately led to the suspect's capture.

In addition to the arrest, police discovered a firearm and ammunition in the suspect's home, resulting in further charges for illegal possession of a firearm.
