Man suspected of committing homicide in Goiás is arrested in Maranhão
A man wanted for homicide in Goiás was arrested in Maranhão after a police operation.
On Tuesday morning, a suspect in a homicide case in Gouvelândia, Goiás, was arrested in the municipality of Igarapé do Meio, Maranhão, as part of an operation led by the Maranhão Civil Police with assistance from the Goiás Civil Police. The arrest followed an exchange of information between the two law enforcement agencies that had tracked the suspect's location.
The suspect is accused of killing Bruno Fernandes during an altercation fueled by alcohol consumption on November 14, 2016. Despite attempts to save Fernandes, he succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. The suspect had been on the run since the incident and had been actively sought by authorities. With an arrest warrant issued, police followed leads that ultimately led to the suspect's capture.
In addition to the arrest, police discovered a firearm and ammunition in the suspect's home, resulting in further charges for illegal possession of a firearm. The weapon and ammunition were seized, and the suspect was taken to the police station for processing, highlighting the ongoing efforts by Brazilian law enforcement to apprehend fugitives and ensure public safety across the country.
