A couple was arrested in Araguaína, Brazil, for allegedly participating in a drug trafficking scheme with a university professor.

A couple was apprehended on Tuesday in Araguaína, located in northern Tocantins, Brazil, on suspicions of involvement in a drug trafficking operation that allegedly included a university professor. The professor is accused of storing drugs intended for distribution to other individuals. The arrested couple consists of a 39-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man, whose names have not been disclosed, and the local news outlet was unable to reach their legal defenses for comments. According to reports from TV Anhanguera, the arrests took place in the Araguaína Sul sector, with police indicating that the couple has connections to a national criminal faction. During the operation, law enforcement seized approximately one kilogram of crack cocaine, half a brick of marijuana, a quantity of cocaine, and a .38 caliber revolver loaded with five intact rounds and one discharged round, alongside a vehicle reportedly used for drug deliveries. The authorities highlighted that the 27-year-old man has a criminal history, having previously been arrested and convicted for drug trafficking in 2019.
