The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued an orange alert for heavy rains in the entire interior of São Paulo, specifically affecting 18 cities in the Piracicaba region. The alert indicates that heavy rainfall will occur between Tuesday, October 24, and Friday, October 27, with expected precipitation ranging from 50 to 100 millimeters per day. In addition to the rain, temperatures in Piracicaba are forecasted to fluctuate between 20ºC and 29ºC during this period.
As the week progresses, the weather forecast indicates a potential drop in temperatures starting Friday, with minimums between 15ºC and 17ºC and maximums reaching around 28ºC. This shift is expected to bring more humid conditions, further intensifying the chances of adverse weather events. The orange alert, which is the second level on the severity scale, warns of possible rain rates of 30 to 60 millimeters per hour accompanied by winds of up to 100 km/h.
Residents have been advised to take precautions due to the risks associated with such intense weather, including the possibility of power outages, falling trees, flooding, and lightning strikes. Specific recommendations were provided, urging individuals to avoid taking shelter under trees during windy conditions and to stay informed about local weather updates to ensure safety during this stormy period.
