Suspect of stabbing ex-wife in the street is arrested in southern Piauí
A 30-year-old man was arrested in southern Piauí for the attempted feminicide of his ex-wife, having previously violated a protective order.
A suspect identified only as D.Q.S., aged 30, was arrested in Corrente, located around 840 km from Teresina, for the attempted feminicide of his ex-wife. The arrest was made on the afternoon of Monday, February 23, following an order from the Civil Police of Corrente, which reports that the suspect stabbed his ex-wife five times on the street, specifically targeting her back and arms. This violent act occurred on February 13, 2026, highlighting the ongoing threat the victim faced from her former partner.
The Civil Police noted that the arrested individual had a previous history of threats, stalking, and psychological violence, indicating a pattern of abusive behavior. The police emphasized that these circumstances demonstrate a repeated violent conduct and the suspect's disregard for judicial measures that had been imposed against him. Such records raise significant concerns about the safety of the victim and the effectiveness of protective measures in preventing further violence from the suspect.
Following his arrest, the suspect was taken to the police station for processing, where authorities will carry out the necessary legal procedures. This case sheds light on the urgent issues surrounding domestic violence in Brazil, particularly the challenges that victims face even when protective orders are in place, and highlights the need for stronger measures to safeguard victims of domestic abuse.
