Suspect of killing man with a knife in square arrested in Piauí; video recorded crime

A suspect identified by the initials J.A.S. was apprehended on Sunday morning in Simplício Mendes, Brazil, located approximately 380 km from Teresina. He is accused of killing Renato de Jesus by stabbing him in the chest last Thursday in Capitão Gervásio Oliveira. The crime was recorded by a security camera, providing crucial evidence of the incident.
According to the 2nd Company of the 14th Battalion of the Military Police, after the stabbing, the suspect fled to a relative's home in the rural area of Simplício Mendes. Law enforcement officials tracked him down in the region and executed a preventive arrest warrant. The suspect was taken to the Civil Police Station for necessary legal procedures following his capture.
Eyewitness accounts from at least seven individuals who witnessed the crime indicate that there was an altercation between Renato and the suspect moments before the stabbing occurred in Minor Firmino de Sousa square. The security footage is expected to play a significant role in the investigation and any subsequent legal proceedings against the suspect.
