Due to floods, dozens of tourists evacuated in Bali

Heavy rains have caused flooding in Bali, leading to the evacuation of dozens of tourists and temporary shelter for around 350 people.

Intense rainfall since Monday evening has resulted in significant flooding in several areas of Bali, including the provincial capital Denpasar, according to senior officials from the local disaster management agency. Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties stemming from the floods. The flooding has inundated cafes, gas stations, and other establishments in the Badung region, prompting some tourists to evacuate using rubber boats. A Mexican tourist, Briana Palacios, shared her disappointment at being unable to visit the Bali Zoo due to the ongoing disaster situation.

On Tuesday, approximately 30 foreign tourists were evacuated from the flood-affected areas, with many relocating to other hotels or returning to their accommodations once the water levels receded. In total, about 350 individuals sought temporary shelter as the waters rose, but most returned to their homes or lodgings as the flooding subsided. The heavy rains have also forced the diversion of at least two international flights, highlighting the broader impact this weather event is having on the region's accessibility and tourism.

While the immediate crisis appears to be contained without any serious injuries, the flooding raises concerns regarding infrastructure and emergency preparedness in tourism-heavy areas like Bali. Strong weather patterns may continue to threaten these locations, placing an emphasis on the need for effective disaster management and ensuring the safety and well-being of both locals and visitors.
