Ajit Pawar Plane Crash: DGCA tightens grip on VSR, preparing to 'ground' 4 aircraft
The DGCA has initiated major actions against VSR Ventures, grounding four aircraft following the plane crash that killed Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and others during a landing incident.
In a significant enforcement action following the tragic plane crash that took the life of Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has decided to ground four aircraft operated by VSR Ventures. This decision comes as a result of serious deficiencies identified during a special audit and monitoring conducted in the aftermath of the crash, which took place during the landing of a Learjet 45 in Baramati on January 28, killing Pawar and four others. The DGCA's decision is rooted in a comprehensive investigation into VSR's operational, maintenance standards, and safety protocols triggered by this incident.
The crash had prompted immediate action from the DGCA, which has been reviewing the operational safety of VSR Ventures meticulously. Initial findings have indicated several technical and procedural flaws that necessitated preventive measures to ensure flight safety. Consequently, the grounding of these four aircraft is seen as a precautionary step aimed at preventing further incidents while investigations continue.
In parallel, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has launched an independent inquiry to ascertain the technical causes of the crash, the pilot's actions, coordination with air traffic control, and meteorological conditions at the time of the accident. This investigation is critical as it seeks to unveil the underlying reasons for the accident, which not only affected the aviation community but also resonates with the political landscape of Maharashtra, following the untimely death of a prominent political figure.
