Rio do Peixe Bridge: find out which alternate routes to take after structure collapses on MS-080

The Mato Grosso do Sul government has released alternative routes for drivers following the collapse of the Rio do Peixe bridge on MS-080.

The government of Mato Grosso do Sul has announced alternative routes for motorists navigating the section of MS-080 that is currently closed due to the collapse of the Rio do Peixe bridge. This incident occurred last Sunday when a bi-trem truck carrying 40 tons of cement crossed the bridge and resulted in its failure. The bridge is located near the municipality of Rio Negro, prompting immediate concerns for local traffic and logistics.

The state has provided specific directions for diversions to alleviate the disruption caused by the bridge's collapse. Drivers traveling from São Gabriel do Oeste to Rio Negro can access the alternate route via MS-430, diverting approximately 32 kilometers before returning to MS-080. Additionally, those coming from the Pantanal region can follow a similar alternate route, ensuring they can navigate around the affected area without significant delays.

Further, the government has detailed routes for drivers heading from Campo Grande towards either the Pantanal or São Gabriel do Oeste. This includes using Avenida Brasil, followed by a right turn onto Rua José Morita, leading them to the MS-430. These diversions are crucial for maintaining connectivity in the region, and the authorities remain vigilant in monitoring traffic levels and adjusting the routes as necessary until the bridge is reconstructed and reopened.
