ICE, THAT CONNECTS ⟩ The artwork dedicated to the 108th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia features the slackline world champion

An artistic video work titled "Ice, That Connects" was created in honor of Estonia's 108th anniversary, symbolizing ice as a unifying element in Estonian nature and culture.

In celebration of Estonia's 108th anniversary and this winter season, a creative video piece titled "Ice, That Connects" has been developed, focusing on the significance of ice as a unifying symbol in Estonian nature and cultural context. The central theme emphasizes ice as a temporary yet impactful connector, linking rivers to the sea and the mainland to islands, while providing opportunities for movement and social interaction in places otherwise inaccessible. Filmmaker Henry Tombak is the creator of this concept, exploring these connections through a visual narrative.

The artwork prominently features slackline world champion Tauri Vahesaar, who showcases tricks on ice, illustrating the delicate balance and movement on fragile surfaces. His performance embodies the spirit of balance and agility while navigating these transient frozen landscapes. Additionally, writer Merit Raju participates in a duet that creatively integrates elements of balance and movement, highlighting the importance of collaboration and trust in achieving harmony in their performance.

Furthermore, the second layer of the piece includes fire dancers from the Surya Fire Studio collective – Alisa Merkurieva, Karina Valuya, and Valerija Ε½erebtsova. Their performances add another dimension to the visual experience, intertwining themes of light and motion, contrasting with the icy backdrop, symbolizing the diverse expressions of connection and beauty present in Estonian culture.
