A couple was arrested after robbing a residence in Limeira, Brazil, and taking the homeowner hostage during the incident.
In the early hours of October 24, a couple was arrested in Limeira, São Paulo, after allegedly robbing a residence in the Vila São Jorge neighborhood. The police reported that the suspects, a 23-year-old woman who worked as a cleaner for the victim and her 37-year-old partner, unlawfully entered the home and restrained the 49-year-old businessman. They bound and gagged him in the bathroom while they conducted the robbery. A third accomplice managed to escape the scene during the incident.
The cleaner's familiarity with the household routines furnished her with crucial information to facilitate the robbery. This insider knowledge allowed the couple to monitor the victim's movements and execute their plan effectively. The robbers made off with valuables including appliances, electronics, and furniture totaling around 30,000 Brazilian Reais, in addition to stealing two vehicles. The victim reported that the pair threatened him with a firearm during the ordeal, escalating the terror of the crime.
The police acted swiftly after being alerted to the robbery, leading to the apprehension of the suspects. The police's vigilance and response were instrumental in ensuring that the crime did not escalate further. The incident raises concerns about workplace trust and safety, as the victim's own employee was involved in the crime, highlighting the potential risks that come with employing individuals in private homes and businesses.
