City Award: Youth Prize Goes to SMV of Dachau-South Secondary School

The student body of Dachau-South Secondary School was awarded the main prize at the Dachau Youth Award 2025 for their impactful community initiatives.

The student council (SMV) of Dachau-South Secondary School has been honored with the main prize at the Dachau Youth Award 2025, recognizing their significant contributions to improving student life through various initiatives. During the award ceremony, representatives from the city and youth council highlighted the values of joy and integration that the SMV fosters through activities such as school fairs and events, including a campaign celebrating Ramadan, which emphasizes the importance of youth engagement in community activities.

Philipp Caspari, the spokesperson for the youth council, praised the SMV for being a source of happiness in the challenging school environment and noted that the council's efforts reflect a grassroots approach where 'youth act for youth'. The award comes with a prize of 500 euros, which the SMV plans to invest in new projects aimed at further enhancing the school environment and community integration. Other notable recipients included the Democracy Mobile from the district youth association, receiving 300 euros, and the Young Ensemble of the Theater am Stadtwald, awarded 100 euros.

According to a statement from the city of Dachau, this year's jury faced significant challenges in selecting the winners given the caliber of submissions, emphasizing the commitment of local youth to positive change. The recognition of these initiatives underscores the important role that student organizations play in promoting social cohesion and cultural awareness among diverse student populations.
