Former Neptūnas Legionnaire Joins Jonavos Club
A former Neptūnas player has joined the Jonavos basketball team, aiming to enhance the team's physicality and quality in the game following the departure of another player and an injury to the captain.
In a recent move, the Jonavos basketball club has signed a former Neptūnas player to strengthen their roster for the current season. The player, Rutherford, has shown notable performance in the Latvian-Estonian championship, averaging 9.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. His previous stint in Lithuania with Neptūnas also highlighted his capabilities, where he averaged 8.6 points and 11.3 efficiency points in the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL). This acquisition aims to fill the gap left by the departure of J. Henry and address the impact of a captain's injury on the team.
Club director Karolis Vaškevičius expressed his satisfaction with the signing, emphasizing the need for a player who could bring both physicality and quality to the paint area. The team's current situation, exacerbated by captain injuries, necessitates the addition of a player who can contribute positively. The club is hopeful that Rutherford will integrate well into the team dynamics and enhance their rebounding efforts, which is crucial for their success in the ongoing season.
The contract with the center has been signed for the remainder of the season, indicating the club's commitment to bolster their squad as they compete in the increasingly competitive Lithuanian league. This strategic move highlights Jonavos' ambitions to improve their performance and strive for better results in the league, making them a team to watch in the upcoming games.
