On Monday, six workers were discovered traveling in an extremely unsafe manner inside the cargo area of a truck on the BR-282 highway in Campos Novos, located in the western region of Santa Catarina, Brazil. These individuals had departed from Guarapuava in Paraná state and were on their way to Xanxerê, Santa Catarina, to work at an amusement park. Upon inspection, the Federal Highway Police (PRF) noted that the workers were in precarious conditions, exemplified by an improvised bunk bed and the presence of a motorcycle within the truck's interior.

The PRF also reported that the truck's semi-trailer was missing one tire, while the remaining tires were significantly worn, which posed a serious risk to their safety on the road. Authorities took immediate action by reporting the incident to the Ministry of Labor Public Prosecutor's Office (MPT) for further investigation and potential prosecution. The truck was subsequently detained and taken to an authorized impound yard due to its poor condition and the absence of mandatory safety equipment, highlighting significant issues regarding transportation safety standards in Brazil.
