In another incident highlighting ongoing crime in Belém, the wiring for the public lighting at the COP construction site located in Doca was reported stolen on the morning of Monday, the 23rd. The theft was discovered during a routine patrol by the Municipal Guard of Belém near the area known as Porto Futuro. This incident adds to mounting concerns about public safety and infrastructure protection in the region.

The park project, Parque Linear da Nova Doca, has seen significant investment of approximately R$ 310.8 million and was inaugurated on October 2, 2025. The completion of this project, which aimed to revitalize the Visconde de Souza Franco Avenue, seems undermined by the repeated thefts that affect the public infrastructure. Local authorities are now faced with the challenge of improving security and preventing further incidents.

Local officials from the Municipal Guard indicated that the company responsible for public lighting would be notified to initiate the replacement of the stolen wires.
