Brazil continues to lead as the largest medical technology market in Latin America, with expected consumption hitting around R$ 80 billion (approximately US$ 15.5 billion) by 2025. This data comes from the 'Mapa do Setor de Tecnologia MΓ©dica', set to be released by the Brazilian Alliance of Innovative Health Industry (Abiis) on February 26. The report compiles economic, productive, regulatory, and institutional data not only from Brazil but also from Argentina, Canada, Colombia, the United States, and Mexico, providing a comprehensive view of the sector's landscape.
The global market for medical devices, which encompasses products ranging from simple items to implants, equipment, and software, is expected to reach US$ 572.3 billion (R$ 2.9 trillion) by 2025, with predictions of growth to US$ 886.68 billion by 2032, marking an increase of over 54%. The Brazilian medical technology sector's growth, despite its potential, has faced constraints due to the macroeconomic environment and challenges related to healthcare financing, hindering consumption levels.
Particularly notable in the report is the impressive rise of the in-vitro diagnostics segment within Brazil, reflecting advancements in technology and increased demand for precise medical testing. These insights highlight not only the challenges faced due to financial limitations but also the growth opportunities within specific sectors of the medical technology industry in Brazil, potentially influencing policy and investment in health technology innovations.
