Eucalyptus trunk falls and kills man who was cutting the tree in Guaratinguetá
A 35-year-old man died after an eucalyptus trunk fell on him while he was cutting down trees in Guaratinguetá, Brazil.
A tragic accident occurred in Guaratinguetá, a city in the interior of São Paulo, where a 35-year-old man lost his life after being struck by a falling eucalyptus trunk. The incident happened on the morning of Monday, October 23, during a tree-cutting operation at a site on Estrada das Posses. The victim was reportedly working with a friend who was sharpening a chainsaw nearby when the accident took place.
The friend, who witnessed the event, noted that he had momentarily distanced himself from the victim only to hear the sound of the tree crashing down. Alarmingly, he observed that the victim's chainsaw remained operational for approximately four minutes following the fall, suggesting that the accident occurred almost instantaneously. Upon realizing that the trunk had fallen on his friend, the witness urgently called for help from neighbors, who assisted in notifying the Mobile Emergency Service (Samu).
Emergency responders arrived on the scene to assess the situation, confirming the man's death due to cranial trauma. Authorities have categorized the incident as a suspicious death / accidental death and the case has been documented at the Guaratinguetá Police Station. This unfortunate event highlights the critical dangers associated with tree-cutting activities and emphasizes the importance of safety measures when handling heavy equipment in such environments.
