Namibia: Four Die in Karibib Road Accident
Four people tragically lost their lives in a road accident on the C33 road between Karibib and Omaruru in Namibia.
A serious road accident on the C33 road between Karibib and Omaruru resulted in the deaths of four individuals on Saturday evening. The Erongo police reported that the incident occurred around 8:00 PM when a sedan with six passengers collided with a truck that was stationary in the middle of the road while attempting to make a U-turn. Among the deceased are the driver, 49-year-old Cassius Katamo, and a 66-year-old passenger, Karape Katjivive, who died at the scene.
The accident resulted in two additional fatalities, with passengers Silba Ndjiharine (52) and Selma Kataturua (73) succumbing to their injuries later at the Omaruru State Hospital. Reports indicate that the two remaining passengers, aged 59 and 62, sustained severe injuries and were transferred to Katutura State Hospital, where they are currently in serious but stable condition. The truck involved in the collision was being operated by a driver from Zimbabwe, who was reportedly outside the vehicle at the time.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns about road safety in Namibia, particularly regarding collisions involving stationary vehicles.
