Namo Bharat Sets Record on First Day, One Lakh People Travel Between Delhi and Meerut
On its inaugural day, the Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System recorded over one lakh passengers traveling from Delhi to Meerut following its formal inauguration by Prime Minister Modi.
The newly inaugurated Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) between Delhi and Meerut has set a new record for passenger numbers on its first day of operation, with over one lakh passengers expected to have traveled by the end of the day. This record coincided with the formal opening ceremony of the 82-kilometer long corridor and the new Meerut metro link, conducted just a day earlier by Prime Minister Modi. It marked the system's first full commercial run after the inauguration, attracting a significant public response.
Videos captured at the Begumpul station in Meerut showcased an enthusiastic crowd of passengers, highlighting the excitement surrounding the new transit option. Even before the day's operations began, the station's concourse area was filled with families and young people who took selfies and celebrated the launch. Some passengers went a step further by throwing flower petals on the train's arrival, while others cheered and waved as they welcomed the services. The organized ticket counters and entry queues at the platforms reflected the anticipation and well-managed operations on the first day.
This significant event not only symbolizes a boost in the region's transit infrastructure but also indicates a growing reliance on public transportation solutions among residents. The Namo Bharat RRTS aims to provide efficient connectivity between large urban centers, enhancing accessibility and potentially reducing traffic congestion. Such large passenger numbers on the inaugural day may also point to a positive response towards future expansions and improvements in India's metro and rapid transit systems.
