Participants of the Constitutional Court's Student Competition: Trust in Latvia is Created by Its People
Students in a creative competition express their trust in Latvia through art, discussing the role of community and national events in fostering this trust.
The competition "Trust in Latvia β to Believe and Trust in One's Own Country" saw students participating creatively, submitting drawings, videos, and essays that depict what instills trust in their country. Specifically, sixth-grader ValΔrija Golovenkova from Ludza's second high school emphasized the importance of human connection in building trust, showcasing her experience at the Song and Dance Festival in her artwork. She believes that such events unite people and foster positive memories, contributing to national solidarity and trust.
Her friend, Ksenija SΔΌedze, also participating in the contest, illustrated dancers alongside legal principles in her submission. This highlights a perspective that adhering to laws and participating in national traditions, such as competitions and artistic performances, is essential in creating trust towards Latvia. Both students illustrate how cultural events can enhance a sense of community and loyalty toward their country, reflecting a youthful understanding of patriotism grounded in shared experiences.
The competition itself exemplifies an important educational initiative aiming to engage young minds in discussions surrounding civic duty and national identity. By encouraging students to reflect on what trust in their country means to them, the initiative not only promotes creativity but also deepens their connection to Latvian society and its values.
