Decisive 'PRAHAAR' Against Terrorism, Government Releases Country's First Anti-Terror Policy
India has launched its first official anti-terror policy called 'PRAHAAR', which aims to counter both traditional and emerging threats including cyber attacks and drone technology.
On Monday, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of India officially released its first anti-terrorism policy named 'PRAHAAR'. This policy signifies India's readiness to not only address traditional terrorism but also to tackle modern challenges such as cyber attacks, dark web threats, and drones. The central tenet of the policy is zero tolerance for terrorism, indicating a comprehensive approach to countering both conventional and emerging terrorist threats.
The 'PRAHAAR' policy aims to effectively address a wide range of terrorist threats in a cohesive manner. Crafted by the MHA, this master plan encompasses strategies to combat not just cross-border terrorism but also the complex digital and technological threats of the modern era. The overarching goal is to ensure national security against various forms of terrorism, with a focus on integrated responses to threats from land, sea, and air.
In particular, the policy emphasizes the need for specialized mechanisms to secure vital economic sectors such as electricity, railways, aviation, ports, defense, space, and nuclear energy. With the threat of cyber attacks and drones on the rise, the MHA’s report highlights the importance of a robust framework to address these new-age security challenges, ensuring that India can face and neutralize threats effectively across multiple domains.
