Meteorologists announced when spring will arrive in Lithuania
Meteorologists are forecasting an early spring in Lithuania, with warmer temperatures and less precipitation expected in March.
In Lithuania, Monday's weather has been marked by rain and sleet, yet with above-zero temperatures, prompting discussions about the arrival of spring. Meteorologists have shared insights that December was the fourth warmest month, while January ranked as the seventh coldest since modern records began in 1961. February has also followed a trend of being colder than usual, raising questions about the onset of spring as colder Februarys have been recorded in 2011 and 2012.
Recent calculations indicated that February would be up to 3 degrees colder and somewhat wetter than average. However, data shows the opposite with the previous part of February being drier and colder than initially anticipated. The latest ECMWF models suggest that the first half of March could see temperatures rise by up to 0.5 degrees while precipitation is predicted to be up to 50% below the multi-year average, indicating a gradual onset of early spring for Lithuania.
Despite these optimistic forecasts, meteorologists from "Meteo LT" issued a note of caution, labeling these predictions as experimental, thus their reliability is not yet guaranteed. This uncertainty reflects the changing nature of weather patterns and highlights the need for residents to stay informed as the climate continues to fluctuate.
