About 600 foreigners sign contracts with Ukrainian defence forces monthly

Approximately 600 foreign soldiers contract with the Ukrainian Armed Forces each month, according to a military official.

Kostiantyn Milevskyi, Deputy Head of the Department for Coordination of Foreign Military Service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, revealed that each month around 600 volunteer soldiers from various countries are joining the Ukrainian Ground Forces. This figure represents individuals from 75 different nations who have committed to serving alongside Ukrainian troops amidst ongoing military actions. Milevskyi noted that the recruitment numbers have variations due to seasonal changes, particularly the weather affecting individuals from warmer climates, potentially decreasing enlistment by around 50 during colder months.

Milevskyi further shared that the total number of foreign volunteer soldiers serving or who have served in Ukraine has surpassed 10,000. This ongoing influx illustrates significant international support for Ukraine during its military engagements. The Ukrainian military emphasizes that it is not aiming to recruit beyond the capacity to adequately support and train new recruits, underscoring the importance of efficient training and combat coordination to maintain operational effectiveness.

As the weather improves in the coming months, an increase in the number of volunteers is anticipated, reflecting the ongoing commitment of international forces to assist Ukraine. This trend hints at the geopolitical implications of foreign involvement in Ukraine's defense efforts as it seeks to bolster its military capabilities in the face of external pressures and conflicts.
