Suspect arrested in Santana for assaulting mother and violating protective order
A 44-year-old man was arrested in Santana, Amapá, for violating a protective order and assaulting his mother, who has been a victim of domestic violence since 2023.
In Santana, Amapá, law enforcement officials arrested a 44-year-old man during a national operation aimed at protecting women from domestic violence. The suspect was apprehended due to violating urgent protective measures mandated by the courts after assaulting his 67-year-old mother. His mother has reportedly been a victim of domestic violence since 2023, prompting ongoing legal action against the man, who has a history of multiple arrests for similar offenses.
Detective Katiúscia Pinheiro highlighted the suspect's repeated offenses, noting that he had been previously jailed three times for domestic violence. Despite these interventions, he continued to engage in harmful behavior, demonstrating a lack of rehabilitation, as he was re-arrested just a day after initial charges. The rising frequency of such incidents underscores the challenges faced by law enforcement in protecting victims and ensuring compliance with protective orders.
The Specialized Police Station for Women's Assistance (Deam) executed a preventive arrest warrant for the man, with the support of the Military Police of Amapá. The suspect not only faces charges of violating protective measures but also threats, bodily harm, and crimes against honor. The detective emphasized the crucial role of reporting such incidents to the authorities for effective protection, reiterating that violating protective orders is a serious crime that warrants legal action.
