A close aide to former Seoul City Council member Kim Kyung has been placed under investigation for allegedly engaging in financial misdeeds related to political sponsorship. This investigation stems from accusations that a large sum of money was offered during the lead-up to the upcoming by-election for the Gangseo District Mayor. The allegations of lobbying came to light as a result of taped conversations involving Kim, wherein he suggested giving sponsorship under someone else’s name to a senior Democratic Party official. The aide, identified only as 'G', is suspected of making a substantial donation under Kim's direction.
