Reconstruction of the Hipodroom Intersection in Tallinn Begins in Spring

Construction to remodel the Hipodroom intersection in Tallinn will start this spring and is set to be completed by autumn next year.

Construction for the remodel of the Hipodroom intersection in Tallinn will commence this spring, focusing on the roads connecting Paldiski maanteed, Endla street, and MustamΓ€e road. The project aims to enhance traffic flow by renovating road fields on Paldiski maantee towards both Haabersti and the city center, as well as the section of Endla street up to Mooni street. Overall, approximately 500 meters of road on both directions of Paldiski maantee will be upgraded in the course of the project.

To ensure minimal disruption to traffic during the construction period, the work will be executed in two phases. Traffic will be redirected to nearby streets to maintain accessibility. The total cost for the project, which is aimed at improving the intersection to accommodate ongoing construction of the Hipodroom quarter, has been estimated at 11.6 million euros, funded primarily by developers Reterra Estate and Alfa Property.

The reconstruction of the Hipodroom intersection plays a significant role in integrating traffic with the currently under-construction Hipodroom quarter, which is expected to enhance the functionality and aesthetic of the area, improving transport and connectivity amongst the various suburbs connected through this busy intersection. This project not only reflects urban planning efforts of Tallinn's developmental trajectory but also aims to enhance overall mobility for residents and visitors alike.
