Reconstruction of the Tallinn Hipodrome Intersection Begins
The reconstruction of the Tallinn Hipodrome intersection is set to begin this spring, with plans for completion by fall 2027.
The Tallinn Hipodrome intersection reconstruction is scheduled to start this spring, managed by Reterra Estate in collaboration with Tallinna Vesi and Utilitas, as they have entered into a contract with Megido OΓ for the complete overhaul of the intersection on Paldiski Road. This construction project, which connects Paldiski Road, Endla Street, and MustamΓ€e Road, comes with a total cost of 11.6 million euros plus VAT, primarily funded by private capital.
The project is expected to expand and improve traffic flow in the area, with completion targeted for fall 2027. The construction will proceed with minimal disruption, as the intersection will remain open to traffic throughout the two-year process; however, some obstacles are anticipated during the works. As noted by Reigo Randmets, the CEO of Reterra, one direction towards Haabersti will be updated this summer, followed by the opposite direction in the summer of 2027.
Importantly, the number of lanes at the intersection will not decrease, ensuring that traffic capacity is maintained during and after the reconstruction. This project is part of ongoing urban development efforts in Tallinn, with a focus on improving infrastructure to support growing city needs and enhancing connectivity in the area.
