'I couldn't even congratulate the cricketers...', Bangladeshi President Shahabuddin's accusations against Yunus

Bangladeshi President Mohammad Shahabuddin has accused former chief advisor Dr. Mohammad Yunus of violating constitutional procedures and undermining the dignity of the presidency amidst political turmoil following the recent elections in Bangladesh.

In the backdrop of ongoing political strife in Bangladesh following the general elections, President Mohammad Shahabuddin has leveled serious allegations against Dr. Mohammad Yunus, the former chief advisor of the interim government. In a special interview with a Bangladeshi newspaper, Shahabuddin claimed that he was deliberately kept away from constitutional processes over the past year and a half. This revelation comes as the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), under the leadership of Tarique Rahman, prepares to form a new government.

President Shahabuddin alleged that during the interim government's tenure, unnecessary ordinances were issued without formal discussion with him, violating constitutional traditions. He specifically pointed out that Dr. Yunus did not adhere to established constitutional norms, which includes the requirement of notifying the president about any foreign trips taken by the chief advisor. Shahabuddin noted that Yunus failed to inform him about at least 15 such foreign trips, which he believes disrespected the office of the presidency.

In addition to the specific accusations regarding travel and communication failures, President Shahabuddin suggested that he was effectively sidelined from significant political agreements, such as a recent trade agreement between Bangladesh and the United States made shortly before the elections. This ongoing exchange of accusations highlights the rift within Bangladeshi politics and raises concerns about adherence to constitutional processes during a crucial transitional phase for the nation's government.
