Two members remain on the board of 'Latvijas valsts meži'; Kuzmins and Dubrovskis leave their posts
Māris Kuzmins and Dagnis Dubrovskis have left the board of Latvijas valsts meži, leaving it with two members as part of a planned restructuring.
Māris Kuzmins and Dagnis Dubrovskis have stepped down from the board of Latvijas valsts meži (LVM), thus reducing the board's size to just two members. Currently, the board consists of Jānis Krūmiņš, whose term lasts until April 28, 2029, and Inga Vagele, whose term is until March 26, 2029. This restructuring follows a decision made during an extraordinary shareholders meeting on February 6, 2023, which amended LVM's statutes to decrease the number of board members from five to three. The decision to reduce the board size is aligned with directives from the Ministry of Agriculture, which aims to enhance the effectiveness of LVM's management in responding to market fluctuations in the forestry and wood industry sectors both in Latvia and globally. The initiative seeks to streamline operations and ensure that the state-owned enterprise, LVM, can adapt more efficiently to changing market conditions and improve performance. This development comes against a backdrop of ongoing scrutiny of state-owned enterprises in Latvia, and the move to downsize may indicate a broader trend towards promoting operational efficiency within the sector. By having fewer board members, the Ministry of Agriculture hopes to foster quicker decision-making processes and enable LVM to navigate challenges posed by an evolving economic landscape more adeptly.
