Farmers in Uganda are now able to better plan their agricultural activities thanks to a timely weather advisory issued by the Ministry of Water and Environment. The advisory covers expected weather patterns for the end of February 2026, crucial as the nation approaches its March planting season. This initiative aims to enhance the farmers' ability to schedule tasks effectively in accordance with the weather, which is vital for crop success.

Ojok Andrew, a farmer from Gayaza, expressed gratitude for the updated forecast, stating that it empowers farmers to operate with more certainty regarding seasonal weather changes. Previously, many farmers worked without clear indicators of rain patterns, which often led to poor agricultural planning and crop management. The forecast allows farmers like Ojok to prepare adequately, thus increasing the likelihood of a successful harvest.

The advisory underscores the essential role of government support in agriculture, particularly in regions heavily reliant on weather-dependent farming practices. By delivering timely weather information, the government not only assists in immediate agricultural planning but also promotes the sustainable development of the farming sector in Uganda. Ojok also urged for consistent updates from the Ministry for better long-term planning, highlighting the importance of reliable weather forecasts in enhancing agricultural productivity.
