Motta says that the rapporteur for the 6x1 scale in the CCJ will be appointed at the beginning of the week

Hugo Motta, president of the Chamber of Deputies in Brazil, announced that a rapporteur for the proposed constitutional amendment on work hours will be appointed early this week.

Hugo Motta, the president of the Chamber of Deputies in Brazil, recently shared in a social media video that the rapporteur for the proposed constitutional amendment (PEC) regarding the 6x1 work scale will be appointed at the beginning of the upcoming week. He held a productive meeting with the president of the Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ), Leur Lomanto Jr., discussing the legislative process for this significant amendment, which seeks to reform work hours in Brazil.

Motta indicated that the discussions surrounding the admissibility of the proposal will take place until the end of March. It was also highlighted that there will be expanded debates in a special committee to be created following the deliberations in the CCJ. The PEC aims to reduce the working hours from 44 to 40 hours per week, following a staggered approach, thus impacting the lives of many Brazilian workers.

The proposal was previously approved by a Senate commission late last year, indicating a trend toward reforming labor laws in Brazil. This change is seen as an essential step in modernizing work structures and could have broad implications for workers' rights, labor market flexibility, and overall economic productivity, as well as social well-being in the country.
