Waxholm boat rescues sauna bathers on ice sheet
A Waxholm boat successfully rescued five people stranded on an ice sheet near Stavsnäs.
A dramatic rescue occurred outside Stavsnäs winter harbor when five individuals and a portable sauna were seen drifting on a small ice sheet. The M/S Gällnö, a Waxholm boat, responded promptly to their situation. According to communications officer Karolina Wichman, the boat first picked up four victims and later returned for a fifth person who needed assistance. Eyewitness Peter Lindgren noted that it appeared as if the individuals were being hoisted onto the boat during the rescue operation.
