Slipperiness might occur on the roads on Monday

On Monday, slippery conditions may develop on the roads due to changing weather patterns across Estonia.

As a high-pressure ridge moves east over Estonia overnight, cloudy conditions are expected to thicken, though no precipitation is anticipated. Throughout the day, Estonia will lie between a high-pressure area originating from Lake Peipsi and a low-pressure zone moving over the southern part of the Baltic Sea. While western parts of Estonia will experience cloudy skies, the eastern regions will see alternating cloud cover with some possibilities of snow and local flurries.

By night, cloud cover will increase from the west, but overall dry conditions will persist, although fog and localized flurries are likely on the northern coastline. Winds will be light and variable, but stronger gusts of up to 15 m/s may occur along the northern coastline. Temperature lows are expected to range between -8 to -16 degrees Celsius inland, and around 2 to 7 degrees near the coast, accentuating the risk for icy roads.

As Monday morning unfolds, western Estonia will be under thick cloud cover while the eastern areas will see more variable conditions. Precipitation remains unlikely; however, fog patches may develop. Winds will continue to be light from varying directions with moderate southeasterly breezes near the western coast. The expected temperatures will be similar to the previous night, indicating continued cold with risks for slippery conditions on the roads throughout the day.
