The Finland Card Expo Mega, the largest card event in Finland, was held at the Aino Arena in Järvenpää, drawing in an impressive crowd of 2,000 attendees. This two-day event focused on buying, trading, and selling collectible cards, showcasing the growing popularity of the trading card culture in Finland. The event’s organizer, Mikko Paasonen, expressed his surprise and delight at the turnout, noting that this is only the fourth event they have organized and the first of the year.
Among the 50 vendors present, the majority offered Pokémon cards, but sports-themed cards were also prominently featured. In addition to cards, some vendors sold handmade items, such as custom folders for card storage. Attendee Mette, who spends around 1,000 euros on her card collection, displayed her bird-themed Pokémon card album and shared her excitement about the hobby. The diverse range of collectibles available at the expo highlights the event's broad appeal and the thriving community of collectors in Finland.
The event not only serves as a marketplace for cards but also fosters community among collectors, providing a space for enthusiasts to connect, share, and engage with their passions. The growing interest in card collecting, especially among younger generations, indicates a resurgence of this hobby, which could have implications for future events and the collectible market in Finland.
