The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in Nigeria has successfully uncovered a warehouse containing banned and fake cosmetic products in Lagos State, valued at over ₦3 billion. This significant operation revealed a concealed facility within an uncompleted building at the APT Trade Fair Complex in Ojo Local Government Area, which was discovered during routine enforcement activities aimed at curtailing the distribution of dangerous products.

Among the items seized were large quantities of skin-lightening and medicated soaps, including 728 cartons of Crusader soap and 718 cartons of E45 soap, all of which have been identified as posing serious health risks and are prohibited by the Federal Government. These products, known for their harmful ingredients, are part of a broader concern regarding the safety and regulation of cosmetics available in the Nigerian market, highlighting the continuing battle against counterfeit products that threaten public health.

Additionally, the agency found assorted perfumes, body oils, and cooking oils, which have been held for further regulatory assessment. This operation marks one of NAFDAC's most significant seizures in recent times, emphasizing the agency's commitment to enforcing regulations and ensuring consumer safety in Nigeria, particularly against the backdrop of increasing health awareness among Nigerians regarding the dangers associated with unregulated cosmetic and skincare products.
