‘Three Judicial Reform Laws’ to be pursued as originally drafted... Democratic Party pushes for vote in plenary session
The Democratic Party of Korea is set to introduce the 'Three Major Judicial Reform Laws' in their original form for voting in the upcoming National Assembly session in February.
The Democratic Party of Korea has decided to push for the introduction of 'Three Major Judicial Reform Laws'—which include legislation on distortions of law, judicial review, and an increase in the number of Supreme Court justices—during the forthcoming February session of the National Assembly. At an afternoon meeting on February 22, the party agreed to present the bills to the plenary session without any amendments following their passage through the National Assembly's Legislative Judiciary Committee. Representative Kim Hyun-jung indicated a strong likelihood of continuous plenary sessions from February 24 to March 3 to address various reform bills that require processing. The intended haste in handling these laws is anticipated to spark debate, especially given the constitutional concerns raised by the legal community regarding these bills.
