On Monday, winter will still be noticeable - snow is expected in many places

Latvia is expecting snowfall and sleet on Monday, February 23, affecting much of the country according to weather forecasts.

On Monday, February 23, a significant portion of Latvia will experience snowfall and sleet as predicted by the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre. Early in the night, skies will be partially cloudy, but clouds will gradually cover the sky as a new precipitation zone approaches from the southwest, bringing with it snow and sleet. Gentle winds will cause fog to form in certain areas, and during the night, temperatures are expected to drop to between -7 and -12 degrees Celsius, with milder conditions near the coast where temperatures will not fall below -3 to -8 degrees Celsius.

In Riga, no precipitation is expected overnight, and winds will be light, with occasional clear skies. The minimum temperature in the capital will be between -5 and -7 degrees Celsius. As the day progresses, predominantly cloudy skies will remain, and the precipitation zone from the southwest will move across Latvia, delivering snow and sleet to much of the region. In western areas, snow cover may increase by 1-3 centimeters, while some western and central areas may experience thawing conditions.

The southeast and eastern regions will also see a shift in winds to a light to moderate southeast, allowing for a mix of winter conditions to settle in. This temperature drop, along with new snow, reminds citizens of the lingering winter weather, necessitating caution for travelers and those planning outdoor activities. The changing weather patterns could also influence local businesses and services related to winter activities, making it a critical time for various sectors in Latvia.
