Men addicted to sex, pornography, and compulsive masturbation โ€“ this study is for you

A groundbreaking clinical trial in Poland is set to examine the pharmacological treatment of compulsive sexual behaviors, particularly focusing on compulsive masturbation.

In Poland, a significant clinical trial is being initiated, marking the world's largest study on pharmacological treatment aimed at addressing compulsive sexual behaviors. This research is particularly focused on the effectiveness of two medications at varying dosages, specifically targeting issues such as compulsive masturbation, which affects a notable percentage of the male population. It is estimated that 3-6% of people suffer from these compulsive behaviors, predominantly among men, with uncontrolled use of pornography and compulsive masturbation being the most common manifestations.

Professor Michaล‚ Lew-Starowicz, a psychiatrist and sexologist, elaborated on this pioneering study during an interview. Conducted at the Psychiatric Clinic of the Medical Center for Postgraduate Education in Warsaw, this research is a part of a broader investigation into compulsive behaviors, aiming to provide effective medical interventions for those afflicted. The trial seeks to offer insights into the pharmacological management of sexual addiction, with implications for treatment approaches and mental health policies in Poland.

As the issue of sexual addiction gains more recognition, this study could pave the way for increased awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by individuals struggling with these compulsions. The outcome may not only influence treatment methods in Poland but also inform global practices and discussions surrounding sexual health and compulsive behaviors.
