On the night of February 22, Russian occupying forces executed a large-scale attack on Kyiv, employing strike drones and missiles. During the bombardment, a multi-story residential building in the Sviatoshyn district was damaged, and a fire broke out on its roof. This assault prompted alerts from the Air Forces and Timur Tkačenko, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, who provided updates on the situation as it unfolded.

An air raid alert for the capital was issued at 3:56 AM, initially due to the threat of ballistic missile launches, and later due to a Russian MiG-31K fighter jet detected in the area. By 4:39 AM, the Kyiv military administration reported the discovery of enemy strike drones in the outskirts of the city. At 6:23 AM, it was confirmed that Kyiv was under attack not only from drones but also cruise missiles, marking a significant escalation in hostilities.

Timur Tkačenko reported the first consequences of the attack by 6:33 AM, confirming that a residential building in Sviatoshyn had been damaged and that a fire had erupted on its roof. Authorities are currently working to ascertain the extent of injuries among civilians as they respond to this latest wave of aggression from Russian forces as the conflict continues to evolve.
