Selecting Companies to Become ‘Leading Circular Economy Models’ Minimizing Resource Consumption

The Korean Ministry of Climate, Energy, and Environment is recruiting companies that heavily generate waste to support the transition to a circular economy.

The South Korean Ministry of Climate, Energy, and Environment is initiating a recruitment process for companies identified as 'leading companies in the circular economy' to address the issue of high waste generation among key domestic industries. Starting from the 23rd to the 13th of next month, the ministry aims to select 20 companies within sectors such as steel, petrochemicals, electronics, semiconductors, and food, with the goal of supporting their shift towards circular economy practices. The initiative is rooted in the urgent need to transform from a linear economy—characterized by mass extraction and waste generation—to a circular economy that minimizes resource consumption and maximizes reuse.
