Who is Alma ‘N’, ‘La Leona’, alleged recruiter of CJNG linked to Rancho Izaguirre?
Federal authorities in Mexico arrested Alma ‘N’, known as ‘La Leona’, for allegedly recruiting hitmen for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
In a significant operation, Mexican federal authorities have apprehended Alma ‘N’, nicknamed ‘La Leona’, who is suspected of being a recruiter for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). Her arrest took place on February 20 in Tala, Jalisco, by agents from the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection. This action is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle cartel operations in the region, particularly following the previous detention of her partner, José ‘N’, known as ‘El Lastra’, who was arrested on charges related to the CJNG's activities.
Alma ‘N’ reportedly took on her role as a recruiter in the criminal organization after the arrest of ‘El Lastra’ in March 2025, when he was involved in operations at Rancho Izaguirre in Teuchitlán, Jalisco. The ranch has become notorious as a training ground where individuals were allegedly lured and subsequently trained to carry out criminal activities. The connections within the cartel, particularly between Alma and José, highlight personal ties that often intertwine with organized crime, complicating law enforcement efforts.
The CJNG, under the leadership of regional boss Gonzalo ‘N’, known as ‘El Sapo’, has been involved in violence and drug trafficking across several states, including Jalisco, Nayarit, and Zacatecas. The authorities' recent actions against individuals like Alma ‘N’ are aimed at disrupting the cartel’s recruitment and operational capabilities, which continue to pose challenges for security forces in Mexico as they attempt to combat organized crime.
